Circuit Breakers
Circuit Breakers Are an Essential Part of Your Home: Are Yours Up to Date?
There is no question that the circuit breakers in your home are essential to your safety. If your home’s wiring has too much current flowing through it, for any reason, these simple devices will cut that power so the problem can be fixed. If they were not there, then the chance for fire in your home would go up astronomically.
When properly installed and working, circuit breakers can be lifesaving – but what if they are not working correctly? If you have reason to worry that this is the case in your home, then we welcome your call to Sonner Electric for assistance.
Advanced Circuit Breakers Are Available
Most home use conventional electric circuit breakers but there are more innovative options on the market. For example, some of the newer options will include electronic components to monitor the levels of electricity, while older options use simpler devices to do the same. The advantage is that the newer options are much more precise and can shut down the circuit intently, but they are also costlier.
Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters Are Modern Options
Another of the newer options is the ground fault circuit interrupter, also known as GFCI. Instead of working to prevent damage to the building’s wiring as a typical circuit breaker does, these devices are designed to prevent individuals from being electrically shocked. The GFCI works to constantly monitor the circuit so that if danger is imminent, it breaks the circuit to prevent electrocution. GFCI are most often used in bathrooms and other areas where the risk of electrocution is higher.
