Learn Simple, Free Ways You Can Reduce Your Electricity Bill Next Month
While you have never wanted to spend more than was strictly necessary on your electric bill, in the time of coronavirus it is even more important than ever before to keep your bills as low as you can. While plenty of energy efficiency tips are out there, many of them require you to buy expensive products or replace your windows before seeing results.
Today Sonner Electric is here to offer free ideas that can have a real impact on your electricity bills. If you have questions about residential electrical needs or need repairs, contact Sonner Electric at 661-728-0126.
Focus on Using Natural Light
Are you making the most of natural light that comes into your home? For example, if you have a reading chair with a bright light behind it, consider moving the chair so that a window is behind it. This can provide you with plenty of light during the day. Likewise, rearrange your home office to use natural light, remove dark window coverings, and find other ways to maximize how much use you get out of your natural light.
Concentrate on Task Lighting
If you cannot use natural light exclusively, work to find ways to make task lighting work. After all, why light up an entire room if you only need light in one specific area. For example, you would use overhead lights if a large family is having dinner together, but if one person is doing the crossword alone, a small task light can do the trick for much less.
Use Your Laptop
If you have a laptop and a desktop, we recommend that you use the laptop only if you want to save money. Why? Because the laptop uses less power in the first place and likely has better power saving features. When you use a desktop, make sure that you turn it completely off every time you are not using it. If you go back and forth from your computer to other areas of your home, turning it off every time might not be practical – which is why we recommend using a laptop exclusively when possible.
Turn Off Lights You Don’t Need
This might seem like obvious advice but many people simply forget to turn off the lights in their home. If no one is actively benefiting from a light at a given time, turn it off. Even if you are going to turn it on again ten minutes later. Many people have no idea that these minutes of turning the light off can have a big impact.
Above you will see many free options to reduce your electrical use. If you do have some money to invest today to lower costs tomorrow, contact Sonner Electric at 661-728-0126 to learn about indoor lighting and other options we can help with.
