1. Repair and Upgrade Your Lights

First and foremost, take a look at your lighting system – especially if you have lights that flicker or otherwise do not work perfectly. Then consider ways you can upgrade your lighting to save money. For example, high-bay lighting can save as much as 50%. Setting lights on timers so that you are only lighting parts of the building when they are used can also save a significant amount of money.

Updating your lighting does more than help improve energy efficiency – it is also a great way to update the look of your commercial property. Newer, more updated lighting is a great look that you and your customers will appreciate.

2. Use Power Management Settings

It is likely that much of your office equipment has power management settings. This includes your computers, printers, etc. Make sure that you know what the energy saving modes are and that you set your appliances to them. You do not want to see a screen saver when you see a computer that has not been in use for hours – you want to see a black, blank screen.

3. Update Your Server Rooms

Yes, you need a server room if you are a larger company. However, with the increase in cloud data hosting, do you really need as much room as you currently have?
